Get Involved in Greenville Twestival
Categories: Events, Social Media

twest editAbout a year ago some Twitter users in London wanted to prove that the latest craze in social media was about more than broadcasting to the world what you had for lunch. They wanted to make a difference so the “Twestival” was born. Their first event made huge waves– raising $250,000 for Charity: Water, enough money to build wells in Uganda, Ethiopia and India. Now they’ve launched Twestival Local. The idea is to combine Twitter with local charities, helping non-profits in hundreds of cities all around the world.

When I saw that no one had stepped up to organize the Greenville Twestival, I got to work. We collected nominations from Upstate charities and now the community must vote on which of the 11 will receive the money raised at the Greenville Twestival. Tonight we’re holding a Tweet-Up to organize the event. While we don’t know all of the details of the event, we do know that it will be held the weekend of September 10-13, along with events around the world. I invite you to get involved, vote for your charity, join our Facebook group, follow us on Twitter and make a difference in Greenville!
