Alison Storm
Freelance Writer Extraordinaire
About Me

I am a freelance writer based in the lovely community of Greenville, South Carolina. Here are some answers to questions you probably never wanted to know the answer to:

What was your first freelance writing job?

I guess you could say my first real freelance writing gig was for Teen People magazine when I was just 20 years old. I got to interview celebrities, review beauty products like nail polish and even attend fancy parties in New York City.

What did you do after graduating from college?

After graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Journalism and a minor in English, I spent six years working as a television news reporter at KTIV, WINK, and WSPA. I covered hurricanes, political campaigns and even spent an evening backstage at a Bon Jovi concert.

What made you decide to leave the glamorous world of television?

After covering one too many sad stories about child abuse, murder and crime, I decided to move full-time to the freelance writing world. Now I choose what stories I work on and I’m doing what I love– writing.

Is Storm your real last name?

Storm is my maiden name, which also happens to be my pen name. Yes, it would be great if I did the weather and in fact I used to– way back when at KTIV in Sioux City, Iowa.
