Raising Kids to be Savers, Givers and Smart Spenders

Smart money smart kidsAccording to research one in four Americans has no money in savings. And the National Foundation of Credit Counseling found that 64% of Americans couldn’t pay for a $1,000 emergency with cash. I don’t know about you but that scares me. If parents don’t teach their kids how to be good savers and excellent givers they will never have financial peace and they will never know the joy of being a good steward of God’s gifts.

As sad as those statistics are it reminds me that by teaching my son how to be smart with money he’ll be in a far better position to experience success in whatever endeavors he pursues. That’s why I’m so excited about the new book Smart Money Smart Kids by Dave Ramsey and Rachel Cruze. The book was released this week and today I reviewed my advanced copy at UltimateCoupons.com. My other favorite articles this week are:

How to Tour Celebrity Homes for Free (We’re talking Bon Jovi’s SoHo pad!)

Taking in the Kentucky Derby on a Budget (Yes, it is possible!)

Cashback vs. Coupon Codes: Which Saves You More? (The research is pretty incredible.)
